Compare two PDFs side by side — without uploading them
Open the original in one panel and the new version in the other. Both scroll together, and every word that was added or removed is highlighted, so you can see exactly what changed.
Most online comparison tools send your documents to their servers. Here the comparison runs entirely in your browser: contracts, bids and reports never leave your computer.
How to compare two PDF files
Drop the first PDF in the left panel and the second in the right panel. The pages line up and scroll in sync, so page 12 of one version sits next to page 12 of the other. Turn on "Highlight differences" and RoseLab extracts the text of both files and marks what was removed and what was added. Use the arrows to jump from one difference to the next instead of reading the whole document twice.
This is the fastest way to review a redlined contract that came back "clean", check whether a supplier changed a price in a revised quote, or confirm that an amended tender document only changed what the notice says it changed.
Who uses a PDF comparison tool
Lawyers and paralegals compare contract drafts and settlement agreements. Procurement teams compare a tender with its addendum. Accountants compare two versions of a financial statement. Students and researchers check what changed between two revisions of a paper. In every case, the point is the same: nothing gets past you because you skimmed.
With a paid plan you can also download a comparison report in PDF that lists every change with its page number and the SHA-256 fingerprint of both files — useful when you need to show someone else what changed.
Private by design: no upload, GDPR-friendly
Confidential documents should not travel to a third-party server just to be compared. RoseLab reads both PDFs inside your browser tab, so there is no upload, no copy stored anywhere and no processing agreement to worry about. Close the tab and nothing remains.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compare two PDF files for free?
Open one PDF in each panel and turn on "Highlight differences". The free plan compares PDFs of up to 20 pages each; paid plans remove the page limit.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Both files are read and compared inside your browser. Nothing is sent to RoseLab or anyone else.
Can it compare scanned PDFs?
Scanned PDFs are images, so there is no text to compare. You can still view them side by side with synchronized scrolling, but automatic highlighting needs PDFs with selectable text.
Does it work for contracts and legal documents?
Yes — comparing two versions of a contract is the most common use. Every inserted or deleted word is marked, so silent edits in a "final" draft stand out.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It works in any modern browser on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS.
