Split a PDF online — without uploading it

Break one PDF into several smaller files: by page ranges you define, or automatically every N pages. All the parts download together in a .zip.

The document is split inside your browser and never leaves your computer. No watermark, nothing to install.

How to split a PDF into multiple files

Open the PDF and choose how to split it. With "Custom ranges" you type the pages of each part — for example 1–4, 5–12 and 13–20 — and each range becomes its own PDF. With "Every N pages" you pick a number and the document is cut into equal blocks, which is handy for scanned batches where every record has the same length.

The tool shows how many files will be generated before you click, and flags any range that falls outside the document.

When splitting a PDF helps

Court and government portals often limit the size or page count of each upload, so a long filing has to be sent in parts. Scanned stacks of documents need to be separated per client or per invoice. A long report may need to go to different people chapter by chapter. Splitting the PDF solves all of these without retyping or re-scanning anything.

Need only a few pages instead of several parts? Use the Remove/Extract pages tool, which builds a single PDF with just the pages you want.

Frequently asked questions

How do I split a PDF into separate files?

Open the PDF, choose custom page ranges or "every N pages", and click "Split and download". Each part becomes a separate PDF inside a .zip file.

Can I split a PDF by file size?

Not automatically — the tool splits by pages. To fit a size limit, split into ranges and, if a part is still too large, run it through Compress PDF.

Is the PDF uploaded to a server?

No. Splitting happens in your browser; the file never leaves your computer.

Is splitting PDFs free?

Yes, the free plan includes a number of splits per day. Paid plans have no daily limit.
