Convert PDF to Word — extract the text without uploading
Get the text out of a PDF into a .docx or .txt file you can edit, instead of retyping it.
The PDF is read inside your browser and never leaves your computer.
How to convert a PDF to an editable Word file
Open the PDF and click "Extract text". RoseLab reads the text of every page, shows a preview, and lets you download it as a Word document (.docx) or as plain text (.txt). Each page is marked so you can find your way around the result.
This is the practical way to reuse a clause from a signed contract, quote a passage from a report, or update an old document that only exists as a PDF.
What it can and cannot do
The converter focuses on the text. It does not try to rebuild the exact layout — columns, tables and images of the original are not reproduced — so you get clean text that is easy to edit and reformat.
It needs PDFs with real text, the kind you can select with the mouse. Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages and contain no text; for those the tool warns you instead of producing an empty file. There is no OCR.
Frequently asked questions
How do I turn a PDF into a Word document?
Open the PDF, click "Extract text" and choose "Download .docx". The text opens in Word, Google Docs or LibreOffice ready to edit.
Does it keep the original formatting?
It keeps the text and its order, page by page, but not the exact layout, tables or images.
Why is my result empty?
The PDF is probably a scan (an image of the page). There is no selectable text to extract, and the tool does not do OCR.
Is the PDF uploaded?
No. The text is extracted inside your browser.
